Korean Education Center in Washington DC hosted the '2017 National Education Development Award' at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea on October 18, 2017, and  Ambassador Ahn Ho-Young presented the national award to the principal of the Washington United Korean School (Virginia Campus). As a result of her dedication to the education of overseas Koreans for the past 16 years as a teacher, principal, and chairman of the Washington Korean Schools Association, Ms. Han Yeon-seong has received Civil Merit Medal.  Ambassador Ahn Ho-Young, after expressing congratulations to Ms. Han, mentioned the difficulties and importance of education for overseas Koreans. while citing his experience of running a Korean school in India.
