What is an ELI?
An ELI (English Language Instructor) works alongside Korean co-teachers to conduct English classes in public schools. ELIs are also known as Guest English Teachers (GETs).
Responsibilities
ELIs work under the supervision of a Provincial Office of Education (POE). Responsibilities include teaching English classes, assisting in curriculum development, and supporting English learning activities.
Training
All ELIs must attend a mandatory 10-day orientation conducted by the Korean National University of Education. The orientation is unpaid and not included in the employment term. Attendance is required as a condition of employment.
